Barbara Eggl
Independent consultant on Data Protection
Barbara Eggl served as data protection officer (DPO) of the European Central Bank (ECB) from June 2015 to August 2019. In this role, she advised ECB business areas, including the Single Supervisory Mechanism, on data protection issues and monitored compliance with EU data protection legislation.
Barbara was instrumental in raising awareness on privacy and data protection in the ECB, and strived to ensure a high level of data protection compliance within the institution.
Currently, she is active as independent consultant on privacy and data protection issues.
Barbara holds a doctorate in law from the University of Vienna and master’s degrees in economics from the University of Vienna and the London School of Economics. She also received data protection certification from the European Institute of Public Administration.
