Isabelle Hupont Torres

Isabelle Hupont Torres is a Telecommunication Engineer (2006) and holds a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence (2010). Throughout her career, she has worked in a variety of institutions, including academia (University of Zaragoza; Sorbonne University, Paris), technological institutes (Instituto Tecnológico de Aragón, Zaragoza; Institut des Systèmes Intelligents et de Robotique – CNRS, Paris) and the private sector (Herta Security). Her research interests encompass AI, affective computing, facial analysis and Human-Machine (-Robot, -Computer, -Virtual Worlds) Interaction.
Currently, Isabelle is a Scientific Officer at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. In this role, she explores artificial intelligence and virtual worlds from a policy perspective, contributing to the development of trustworthy and ethical frameworks for the use of emerging technologies in the European Union, particularly within the public sector.
She has published over 80 scientific articles in highly-ranked journals and international conferences, and has participated in more than 35 R&D projects with leading institutions in these interconnected fields. Isabelle’s extensive experience across diverse but related areas underscores her commitment to advancing AI in a responsible, transdisciplinary and impactful manner.
