Professional experience

Anthony Zacharzewski is the President of the Democratic Society, an international non-profit organization based in Brussels and working in twenty countries across Europe on participation, citizen engagement and new forms of governance. A former senior civil servant in the UK, he set up the Democratic Society with five friends in 2006 and has led the organisation since 2010. His current projects include working in fifteen cities to ensure that climate action is a democratic not just a technocratic issue; practical action to connect citizen voice on research across local, national and European levels; and developing new democratic forms for local and organizational governance.
