Marta Moretti

Prior to working as in-house legal counsel at the European headquarters in Switzerland of a global pharmaceutical company, Marta was admitted to the bar in Italy in 2010 and worked for over ten years as a lawyer in international law firms where she assisted multinational companies especially in the life sciences, data protection, antitrust, corporate law and international trade sectors. She has assisted clients in proceedings before the European Court of Justice, the European Commission, the Italian Antitrust Authority, the Italian Data Protection Authority, the Italian Medicines Agency, and the Arbitration Chambers in Rome and Milan.

Marta has always maintained contacts with the academia, collaborating with EU law professors as a teaching assistant and member of examination commissions first at La Sapienza University and then also at Luiss University in Rome. At Luiss, Marta has also lectured in master courses in EU law for professionals and students. In 2017, Marta represented the European Affairs Department of the Italian Prime Minister’s Office as a expert in an EIPA course on European State Aid Law.

She holds a law degree cum laude and a PhD in International and European Union Law from La Sapienza University, and has attended the Academy of American and International Law in Plano, Texas. In 2017 she won a scholarship offered by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to pursue the Master of Studies program at the European Law and Governance School in Athens.

She has published several articles and essays in law journals and books and has participated in a number of University research projects. During her PhD course, she conducted research in EU Law at the European Court of Justice, and at the European Commission.
