Daan Lagast
Flemish Government
Daan Lagast is a legal advisor at the central purchasing body of the Flemish Government, where he has been working for the past five years. His expertise lies at the intersection of law and technology, with a particular focus on data protection, information security, intellectual property, and the regulatory governance of emerging technologies, including AI.
Daan studied law at the University of Leuven and holds an LL.M. in Intellectual Property and ICT Law. In his current role, he advises project teams on legal compliance, risk management and the organisational implications of new regulatory requirements. He is closely involved in the implementation of digital regulations, including the AI Act, and helps translate these requirements into public procurement projects and policy development.
