We are saddened with the news of the passing of Berend-Jan baron van Voorst tot Voorst, who has fulfilled the role of Secretary-General of EIPA’s Board of Governors from December 2007 to 2013. Before that period, he had also been, for a limited period of time, a member of EIPA’s Board of Governors in his capacity at that time as State Secretary for European Affairs (within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) in the Dutch Cabinet Lubbers.
We remember him not only as a natural diplomat but also as a progressive policymaker and public official who has made a major contribution to the development of EIPA. We hold in high regard, not only his contributions as our Secretary-General, but also his unwavering support and collaboration during his time as Commissioner of the Queen.
We will remember Berend-Jan Baron van Voorst tot Voorst not only as a true European diplomat but also as a courteous and amiable person.
