Wanda is head of the Department of Lifecourse, Lifestyle and Health within the Centre for Prevention, Lifestyle and Health at the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) in the Netherlands. She has been working in the field of physical activity for 25 years, specialising in the epidemiology of physical activity, physical activity-friendly living environments and population-wide monitoring of physical activity. She contributes to national programmes that promote active lifestyles across the life course, with a focus on translating scientific evidence into practical guidance for policy and practice. Many of her projects have a multi-disciplinary character, connecting the field of health with other fields such as transport, environment, education and sport. At RIVM, Wanda works closely with governmental partners, researchers and international networks to strengthen prevention, lifestyle and health initiatives. She has extensive experience in developing tools, indicators and knowledge products that support municipalities and national stakeholders. Wanda regularly engages in international collaboration and represents the Netherlands at the EU level as HEPA Focal Point.
