Professional experience

Paul Courtois is a Research Officer at EIPA, specialised in European Governance, Crisis management, and Political Communication.

Before joining EIPA, Paul worked as EU Policy Researcher in a think tank specialised in EU foreign affairs. He also had the opportunity to work for an international lobby, as Events Assistant and for a French Ministry, as Strategic thinking Policy Officer. Thanks to his experiences in various structures, he developed a holistic approach to EU policies and to governance issues.

Paul holds an International Relations master’s degree, specialised in Crisis management, from HEIP Paris, and a History bachelor’s degree, specialised in Geography, from Université Bordeaux Montaigne. He speaks French, English and Spanish.

His publications include the Policy Paper “Why implementing an ambitious EU Defense Strategy is essential for the EU Strategic Autonomy”, for Vocal Europe (January 2024) and his Master thesis “The Franco-German policy within International organisations”, for HEIP Paris (August 2021).
