Professional experience

Dániel Horn is a Professor of economics specialising in education and labour economics, with a strong focus on the institutional determinants of skills, inequality, and labour market outcomes. He serves as Deputy-Head of the Institute of Economics at Corvinus University of Budapest and as a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic and Regional Studies of ELTE (KRTK). He is also the Academic Director of the Rajk College for Advanced Studies and President of the National Statistical Council of Hungary.
Horn’s research has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals, including Journal of Economic Psychology, Labour Economics, Social Science Research, Journal of Economic Behaviour & Organisation, and European Sociological Review. These works address the effects of educational institutions on equity and effectiveness, cognitive and non-cognitive skills, and transitions into the labour market.
From 2019 to 2023, he was Director of the Institute of Economics at KRTK, where he has also led the Education and Labour Market research unit since 2019. His earlier academic appointments include roles at the Institut für Höhere Studien (Austria), Eötvös Loránd University, the European University Institute (Italy), and the Mannheimer Zentrum für Europäische Sozialforschung (Germany). He has advised the Hungarian national education authority on system-level tertiary competence assessment and widening access.
