Carla M. Álvarez de Vera
GMR Canarias, Head of European Policy
Carla Álvarez has over 18 years of experience in European Policy Development, mainly, in the framework of the European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF), particularly in the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).
She has provided technical assistance to the Canary Island Government on the implementation of the Rural Development Programme (RDP), co-financed by the EAFRD, during the 2007-2013 and 2014-2022 programming periods. Furthermore, following the latest reform and objectives of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), she is currently providing technical assistance and support in the implementation of the CAP Strategic Plan for the period of 2023-2027.
In her early years, her work involved the management of European Commission Framework Contracts (EC FWC EuropeAid) and the presentation and implementation of projects funded by multilateral organisations, such as the European Commission (EC), the World Bank (WB) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
In addition, because of her extensive experience, she has carried out a multitude of actions including the management and coordination of an expert working team, as well as the participation as a speaker in workshops organised by the European Commission.
She holds a Degree in International Business Administration and Management and a Master’s Degree in European Union Studies as well as a Master’s Degree in Personal Development and Leadership.
Her continued professional development emphasises her vocation for working in multicultural environments that enrich and promote the exchange of knowledge in order to face the current challenges of European policies.
