Shaping Future Diplomats: EIPA’s Continued Partnership with Andorran Ministry of Foreign Affairs

News

Last week EIPA started implementing a modular training course on international negotiation techniques.

This course is specifically tailored for representatives and senior officials of the Andorran diplomatic corps, who are tasked with preparing, coordinating, accompanying, and defending a mandate of representation in the context of international meetings, conferences, or negotiations.

The current edition is the latest one in the partnership between EIPA and the Andorran Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a collaboration that has been ongoing since 2017 and which is supported by the International Organization of La Francophonie since its inception.

The program is designed to help developing a set of techniques, tools, and methodologies aimed at enhancing the capacities of the national administrators. Their focus is on mobilising and organising themselves to strengthen participation and influence in various international spaces of negotiation and regulation.

The pedagogy employed emphasises a ‘bottom-up’ approach based on a unique situation that is broken up into a succession of sessions – informal, formal, bilateral, and plenary.  Each session is systematically analysed by our experts, in order to identify the do’s and don’ts, and then accompanied by a series of learning paths that integrate both theory and practice.

Our thanks go to Her Excellency Esther Rabasa Grau, Ambassador of Andorra to the Benelux countries and Permanent Representative to the European Union, to Ms. Eva Palacios, Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Andorra as well as to Ms. Nelly PORTA, Senior Coordinator at the International Organization of La Francophonie (OiF) for supporting EIPA throughout the process of development and realisation of this project.

We are already looking forward to seeing our thirty participants again during the second part of the module on 19 and 20 December in Andorra.
