Professional experience

Manuel Cossio serves as the Global AI Head at Cytel Inc., a multinational data science CRO. He is an AI engineer with over a decade of specialised experience in healthcare AI research and development across the pharmaceutical, medtech, and consulting sectors.

At Cytel, he currently leads the development of generative AI solutions designed to optimise clinical trials. His work focuses on architecting hierarchical multi-agent systems with robust data governance cycles and dynamic human-in-the-loop behaviour control. Manuel also acts as the principal AI partner for all projects involving Real-World Healthcare Data, applying advanced analytics to generate critical insights into disease and treatment landscapes.

His extensive research background includes publications in computer vision, natural language processing, and genetic data analysis. He is a regular invited speaker at global healthcare innovation conferences, where he frequently addresses how AI can be leveraged to improve patients’ quality of life.

Manuel holds an MSc in Translational Medicine (Universitat de Barcelona), a Master of Engineering in AI (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya), and an MSc in Neuroscience (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona). He is a registered Key Opinion Leader at the Digital Medicine Society, an AI researcher at Universitat de Barcelona and Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, and a Generative AI Expert and Evaluator for the EU Commission’s European Innovation Council.
