John Murphy

UK Civil Service Policy Profession Unit

John’s background is in organisational improvement, particularly around business processes and practices and especially the role that knowledge sharing plays. He is currently the Head of Knowledge Sharing at the UK Civil Service Policy Profession Unit, a central government unit overseeing learning and development for the whole UK Civil Service. His focus is on creating a knowledge sharing ‘eco-system’, in which both learners and sharers gain, and which therefore becomes self-sustaining.

Previously John managed knowledge retention for an organisation replacing 95% of its staff, and led a programme to embed knowledge sharing and learning at a central government department. Prior to this he led business improvement initiatives in consulting and professional services firms across the UK and Europe.
