Gloria Folguera Ventura

European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO)

Gloria Folguera Ventura is the Data Protection Officer of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), in Alicante.

She has extensive data protection legal and compliance experience across a wide range of industries in both the private and public sector. Since 2017, she has been working at the EUIPO, initially serving as the Data Protection Coordinator in the Customer Department. In April 2020, she was appointed as the Data Protection Officer. Prior to her role at the EUIPO, she spent several years in the private sector as a Data Protection Legal Advisor for a multinational financial company in Brussels, where she advised on and coordinated the implementation of GDPR within the organisation.

Passionate about the intersection of data protection, privacy and technology, Gloria holds a law degree from ESADE University, Faculty of Law in Barcelona (Spain); an L.L.M in European and Comparative Law from the University of Ghent (Belgium) and a postgraduate degree in Intellectual Property and Digital Innovation from the University of Alicante (Spain). She is a certified Data Protection Officer since 2014 (CIPP/E) and she is also a certified ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 Lead Auditor.
