The Future of the Green Deal

In December 2019, The Commission published a communication on the European Green Deal, announcing a number of planned initiatives to foster environmental protection and combatting climate change. Since then numerous legislative initiatives have been issued, such as the European Climate Law, and it is not easy to keep track of all the legislative and policy developments, nor to understand how the funding works under the Green Deal.

This online course will allow you to have an understanding of all the environmental and climate change related policies. The course provides an overall picture of the current state of play of the legislation and explains the funding mechanisms under the Green Deal.

What will you learn?

You will learn about:

• The pillars of the Green Deal, such as air quality, waste management, climate targets, energy efficiency and energy renewables;
• The interplay with other policy areas such as agriculture or transport;
• Which EU funds are available under which financing programmes in order to help achieve the objectives of environmental protection and combatting climate change under the Green Deal;
• Up-to-date policy and legislative developments.

Course methodology

The online course will be delivered by means of live streaming during two consecutive days via Zoom.

The webinar sessions will be conducted by experts providing presentations on key topics. All sessions will be followed by Q&A periods allowing for the exchange of ideas, and discussion time where participants will have the opportunity to share professional experiences.

By the end of this course, you will:

• Understand what the obligations are for public administrations of Member States, as well as private stakeholders, which are stemming from the Green Deal;
• Have learned about practical solutions to the challenges posed by CO₂ emissions reduction targets;
• Know which EU funds are available to finance programmes and projects at national level under the Green Deal;

Be up-to-date about the current state of play of the legislation.

Anyone interested in EU environmental protection and climate/energy policy; EU funding of green investments, either from the public administrations of the Member States and associated countries, or from the private sector.

EIPA member fee
EIPA offers a discount to all civil servants working for one of EIPA’s supporting countries, and civil servants working for an EU institution, body or agency.

Who are the supporting countries?
Civil servants coming from the following EIPA supporting countries are entitled to get the reduced fee: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden.

For all other participants, the regular fee applies.

Early bird discount
The early bird discount is not cumulative with other discounts or promo codes, except for the EIPA member fee.

Confirmation
Confirmation of registration will be forwarded to participants on receipt of the completed online registration form.

Payment
Prior payment is a condition for participation.

Cancellation policy
For administrative reasons you will be charged € 50 for cancellations received within 7 days before the activity begins. There is no charge for qualified substitute participants.

EIPA reserves the right to cancel the activity up to 1 week before the starting date. In that case, registration fees received will be fully reimbursed.
