“The joint commitment to nurturing the next generation of highly skilled professionals via facilitating access to higher-level quality education is not merely a shared interest but a shared responsibility”.
Yesterday our Programme Director Martijn Pluim, represented EIPA at the European Union Scholarships (BEURs) Project Launch as a keynote speaker.
The event, led by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), in collaboration with Ankara University, Hasan Kalyoncu University, and Marmara Municipalities Union, with funding from the European Union, tackled several critical objectives, including:
- The dissemination of information about the objectives and activities of the EU Scholarships Project and the creation of awareness about the significance of higher education access and sustainability for students under temporary protection, international protection, and Turkish citizens.
- Fostering of collaboration provides an opportunity to explore potential collaborations and synergies with other programmes to maximize the impact and effectiveness of initiatives targeting education and employment opportunities for the target groups.
- The facilitation of initial consultations with relevant public institutions and other stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of the Project.
At the heart of these efforts lies the recognition that higher education is essential for societal progress. It is here where minds are shaped, ideas are born, and innovations take root.”
Martijn’s keynote speech revolved around how EIPA, being a centre of excellence focusing on adult training, research, consultancy, and all matters related to the European Union, can support talent partnerships in public administration, governance, and EU affairs. Martijn also highlighted how collaborative programs, workshops, and joint research initiatives can bridge the gap between talent in this region and European talents, fostering a shared understanding of effective public service practices.
As our Programme Director emphasised, the BEURS project “goes beyond just providing financial assistance; it also creates a platform for networking, supporting each other, and exploring something new”. And EIPA, embedded in a pan-European network of partners, is well situated to play a role in this project.
