Professional experience

Michele Zagordo is a senior auditor at the European Court of Auditors (ECA), in the Directorate of Investments for cohesion, growth and inclusion. He is currently involved in a series of performance audits on the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF). He coordinated the ECA’s Task force on the RRF since its creation and contributed to the ECA’s strategy to audit NGEU/RRF. He has almost 15 years of work experience within the European Institutions, both in Brussels and Luxembourg. Within the ECA, he has extensively worked on issues related to social policies (e.g. youth employment, education, and child poverty). Prior to joining the ECA, he worked as a policy analyst for the European Commission in the fields of employment, education, and health. He worked also as an Academic Assistant at the European College of Parma for the courses on EU Financial Perspectives and Budget and on EU Structural Funds.

Michele has a degree in Economics and Social Studies and a MA in European Affairs. He also holds a PhD in Industrial and Labour relations. He is a lecturer at the European College of Parma and has published articles on Educational systems, Employment and Youth policies. He is currently a Fellow of the Bertelsmann Foundation (between Washington and Brussels). The fellowship convenes staff from the European Institutions and the US Government (both federal and state) as well as select participants from the private sector to discuss about the future of work.
