Center for AI and Digital Policy Europe (CAIDP Europe)

Karine Caunes is the Executive Director of the Center for AI & Digital Policy Europe (CAIDP Europe), a non-profit research & advisory organisation which aims to promote a better society, more fair, more just, a world where technology promotes broad social inclusion based on fundamental rights, democracy and the rule of law. Karine is the Editor in Chief of CAIDP flagship report, the AI & Democratic Values Index, assessing the public policies of 80 countries in the world, and the Editor-in-Chief of the European Law Journal, a top academic journal in the field. She has served as an AI law & policy expert for UNESCO and the OECD and represented CAIDP in the negotiations of the Council of Europe Framework Convention on AI, human rights, democracy and the rule of law. She serves as an instructor in CAIDP AI Policy Clinics and has been teaching EU law and data protection in various institutions in the world. Karine holds a PhD in EU law from the European University Institute (EUI).
