Professional experience

Kai-Peter Ziegler is a Legal Secretary of Judge A, Kornezov at the Court of Justice.

Born in Frankfurt a.M. (Germany), he studied law at the University of Heidelberg (Germany), where he obtained the First State Board Exam in 1996, at the University of Montpellier I (France), where he obtained a Licence en droit in 1993, and at the Duke University School of Law (North Carolina, USA), where he obtained an LL.M- in 1997. In 1998, he was admitted to the New York Bar (State of New York, USA). From 2000 to 2002, he completed his Referendariat in Rheinland-Pfalz (Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany) and obtained his Second State Board Exam.

From 1997 to 1998, Kai-Peter Ziegler taught German law at the University of Montpellier I. Between 1999 and 2003, he was a researcher at the Max-Planck-Institute für ausländisches öffentliches Recht und Völkerrecht (Heidelberg, Germany). In 2003, he joined the Cabinet of Advocate General J. Kokott at the CJEU. In 2006, he became Référendaire in the Cabinet of Judge S, Papasavvas at the GCEU. From 2009 to 2025, he was a Référendaire of Judge A. Arabadjiev at the CJEU.
