Diego Modonesi

European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF)

Diego Modonesi is currently Head of Sector in OLAF – Trade and Customs Unit. His working experience of over 25 years has been acquired primarily in the field of customs, both at European and national administration. At EU level, he has been investigator in customs and trade fraud for over 6 years and external auditor for the EU common agricultural policy dealing with export refunds for about the same time. At national level, he worked for the Italian customs agency for different offices, local, regional and national. He completed a PhD in European Fiscal Studies with joint supervision of thesis by the Universities of Bologna and Louvain-la-Neuve in 2012.
