Context
The Public Employment Service Austria (Arbeitslosmeldung beim Arbeitsmarktservice – AMS), a service provider in the Austrian labour market, launched ‘alle jobs’ in April 2021. This innovative online service is part of the federal government’s full employment policy and is implemented in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Labour and social partners. AMS aims to connect job seekers with available positions by facilitating placement and encouraging proactive initiatives through guidance, information and training. Alle jobs directly contributes to this mission by providing a comprehensive and user-friendly platform for job searching.
Objectives
The primary objective of alle jobs is to facilitate and improve the search for employment, ultimately aiming to achieve a future where everyone has the opportunity to secure fulfilling employment that aligns with their talents and aspirations. The platform strives to achieve these objectives by the following.
- Presenting a transparent and clear picture of the job market: alle jobs aggregates job offers from various sources, including AMS itself, the Internet, public administration and even selected offerings from the German employment agency. This comprehensive approach gives job seekers a holistic view of available opportunities.
- Providing a user-friendly search process: the platform offers clear search options and filters based on specific criteria such as working hours, location and educational background. Additionally, alle jobs conducts thorough evaluations of search results to ensure their relevance to individual user needs.
Implementation
The project approach prioritised collaboration, strategic thinking and user orientation. To achieve a holistic vision, several AMS departments and stakeholders were actively involved throughout the development process. From the outset, the project was approached with a holistic perspective, encompassing labour market policy, organisational needs and technological developments. Realising the importance of user experience, the project team actively involved future users in the development process to ensure that the platform would effectively respond to their needs. Furthermore, the project was integrated into the ongoing AMS innovation process, ensuring a modern and forward-looking approach. Finally, the project played an important role in the AMS IT modernisation initiative, laying the groundwork for future technological advances. This multifaceted approach, combining collaboration, strategic thinking and user focus, was instrumental in the successful implementation of the new AMS job search engine.
