Galician public media, gathered in the Radio and Television Corporation of Galicia, were born in 1985, fulfill, as a legislative mandate, the public communication service of Galicia, with the functions of promoting and disseminating the Galician culture and language, as well as defending the identity of Galicia. Likewise, they promote their own audiovisual production and emissions that help Galicia’s outward projection.
With leading news services, with more than 20% of the screen share, the TVG closed 2018 with an average audience of 10%, leading regional television and supported by the outstanding growth of Radio Galega and digital media. CRTVG broadcasts 24 hours a day on two DTT channels in HD, two satellite channels for Europe and America, and three for Radio Galega. Since the beginning of 2019, after the implementation of the digital production system in 2018, CRTVG promotes technological innovation in the field of digital content for all its platforms.
The CRTVG is a member of the United Nations Global Compact since 2011, and, as such, it publishes annually a Progress Report with the improvements and advances in the area of CSR, following the guidelines of the United Nations. It«s a voluntary initiative, and CRTVG was the first television to follow this model of accountability in Spain. This report is accessible on the CRTVG website and the Global Compact website.
Likewise, the CRTVG maintains a sustained collaboration of six years with UNICEF, an entity that supports the annual Children’s Week, each November, during which, the Galician public media, adapt content and spaces to support the UNICEF’s work and contribute to its campaigns to attract funds and partners.
In the field of corporate communication and Corporate Social Responsibility, the Corporation annually designs a program of awareness campaigns framed within the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations.
In 2019 with a new annual CSR plan has been rebranded under the name of # Acci—nsG (#ActionsG), under which, four campaigns will be carried out. If until now, the CSR campaigns of the Corporation, moved in the parameters of visibility and awareness, since 2019 will incorporate the action and the facts, the #Acci—nsG.
In December 2018, the CSR campaigns of the CRTVG achieved the highest recognition of the Marketing and Comunication Industry in Galicia, as ÒThe ÒBest Practice of CSR in Galicia” (Paraugas 2018 Awards), awards handed by the Communication Cluster of Galicia. We developed 4 campaings: about digital literacy for kids; sustentabilty and road safety education; the literary Galician authors , and Gender Equality (Women and Science).
