The European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) was created in 1981 on the occasion of the first European Council held in Maastricht and is supported by the EU Member States and the European Commission. Our core mission is to provide a mix of deep insights and practical knowledge about EU policies, to all professionals related to EU public affairs, with the key objective of further improving their skills and capabilities for effective management of the policies. In addition to the Maastricht-based headquarters, EIPA has a centre in Luxembourg: the European Centre for Judges and Lawyers (ECJL).
The position
Our EU policy-making team is looking for an intern who is interested in applying the knowledge and skills acquired during their studies and gaining practical experience in this field.
At EIPA, interns get structured mentorship from seasoned professionals thus guiding their growth and transition into professional life. Networking opportunities will be abundant, allowing the intern to connect with professionals, build relationships, and potentially open doors for future career opportunities.
Main tasks and responsibilities
The tasks during this internship will include:
- providing research assistance for the development of training materials;
- conducting research, analysis, and preparing presentations and publications in EU policy making and public administration;
- contributing to maintenance and development of a database through processing of data, drafting of texts and supporting the development of digital applications;
- assisting project leaders in identifying and establishing connections with external speakers and trainers.
Your profile
You can apply for a student internship if you have/are:
- enrolled in, or have recently completed, a Master’s program in European Studies, Political Science/Public Administration, EU Law, or a closely related discipline;
- thorough understanding of EU institutions and policy processes;
- strong quantitative and qualitative research skills;
- good writing skills and experience in drafting texts;
- excellent language and communication skills in English (C1/C2-native language);
- proactive and constructive approach to challenges;
- preferably the nationality of one of the EU Member States, of the candidate countries to the EU, or one of the EEA countries, Switzerland or the United Kingdom.
Familiarity with EU primary sources such as data repositories of EU institutions is desirable and considered an asset.
