About EIPA

The European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) was created in 1981 on the occasion of the first European Council held in Maastricht and is supported by the EU Member States and the European Commission. Our core mission is to provide a mix of deep insights and practical knowledge about EU policies, to all professionals related to EU public affairs, with the key objective of further improving their skills and capabilities for effective management of the policies. In addition to the Maastricht-based headquarters, EIPA has a centre in Luxembourg: the European Centre for Judges and Lawyers (ECJL).

The position

Do you want to gain experience in a truly international work environment in the heart of Maastricht? At EIPA, you will work with colleagues from across Europe and gain insight into all aspects of HR in a dynamic and professional setting.

As an HR Intern, you will get a unique behind-the-scenes look at the HR department of a medium-sized international organisation. You will work closely with a small and dedicated team of HR professionals, giving you the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of tasks and take on real responsibility.

Main tasks and responsibilities

During your internship, you will support various activities, including:

  • Maintaining and improving HR administration and personnel files
  • Supporting recruitment and selection
  • Assisting with onboarding new colleagues
  • Responding to questions from employees and managers about HR processes
  • Contributing to HR projects, such as the performance review cycle or process optimisation
  • Preparing HR communications, such as newsletters or internal updates
  • Analysing HR data (e.g., absenteeism, turnover, or training hours) and producing clear reports

In short, this is a varied internship where you will not only observe but actively contribute. You will gain hands-on experience in all aspects of HR in an international environment.

Your profile

We value curiosity and a willingness to learn. You don’t need to know everything yet, but you should be eager to develop your skills. Ideally, you also:

  • Are pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in HRM, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Are enthusiastic about being involved in all areas of HR.
  • Work accurately and can handle confidential information discretely.
  • Enjoy interacting with colleagues at different levels.
  • Have strong communication skills in both English and Dutch.
  • Are available for a work placement of at least 4 months, 4 days per week.

With these qualities, you will get the most out of your internship – and we will ensure you have a valuable and educational experience in an international setting.
