EIPA congratulates Prof. Olaf Sleijpen on his new position at De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB). Sleijpen will become the new president of DNB on 1 July.
“Under Klaas Knot’s leadership, DNB has built up a solid reputation. I want to build on this and lead DNB with commitment. With room for innovation, together with our employees, with the financial sector and with national and international partners. And always with an eye for changing economic and social circumstances. I look forward to contributing to that with full conviction.”
Olaf began his career at EIPA in 1990, working under Professor Dr. Klaus Gretschmann as a research assistant. During his time with us, Olaf contributed to EIPA’s research activities in the field of European economic policy. Many of our colleagues from that time remember him fondly and followed his career path since then.
Since then, Olaf has built a distinguished career across major institutions in the financial and public sector. He held senior roles at the European Central Bank, where he served as Counsellor to both the President and Vice-President. He later worked at ABP and APG Group. Returning to DNB, he took on several directorial positions in supervision and policy divisions before joining the Executive Board in February 2020.
His appointment to the Executive Board is a remarkable achievement and a moment of pride for all of us at EIPA. We are proud to have been a small part of Olaf’s early professional journey and wish him all the best in his continued service at DNB!
