Michael Koplovsky is a former senior U.S. diplomat, trade negotiator, university professor, and Brussels lobbyist. He is currently a Senior Advisor at Kreab International and Visiting Professor at the College of Europe. During his diplomatic career, he successfully concluded bilateral accords on five continents, led U.S. delegations to trilateral NAFTA trade talks, and conducted multilateral negotiations at the United Nations (UN) and at the OECD. At the UN, he held Russia and Iran accountable for attacks on civilians in Syria, and secured Jamaican support for U.S. positions at the UN Security Council. At the OECD, he negotiated new Internet Policy Principles, tax rules, and Colombia, Costa Rica, Latvia, and Lithuania accession. While Vice Chair of OECD Budget Committee, he ensured zero budget growth. In addition to serving as Director for Mexican Affairs and Deputy Director for Andean Affairs at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), while posted at American embassies abroad, he negotiated bilateral trade agreements with Morocco and Suriname. Prior to joining the U.S. Government, Mr. Koplovsky worked in the World Bank’s Strategic Planning Division. He taught undergraduate courses on negotiation and conflict resolution, global issues, organisational change, and leadership while Visiting Professor of Organisational Science at the George Washington University in Washington, DC. At the College of Europe in Bruges, he teaches Masters students about US-EU trade and economic relations in the Transatlantic Affairs (MATA) programme.
