Lorenzo Bernardini

Lorenzo Bernardini is a Postdoctoral Researcher in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure at the University of Luxembourg and currently Visiting Scholar at Columbia University in the City of New York.

His research interests lie primarily in European and comparative criminal law – with particular attention to procedural fairness, law of evidence, and judicial cooperation in criminal matters – as well as in the field of migration law, with a focus on habeas corpus and immigration detention.

Since 2022, he has taken part in multiple research initiatives financed by the European Commission, including, inter alia, projects relating to the cross-border enforcement of freezing/confiscation orders, the digitalisation of defence rights, and the protection of professional privileges within financial crime investigations.
