Professional experience

Elena D’Alessandro is Professor of Civil Justice at the University of Turin, where she teaches and conducts research in the field of European Civil Procedure. Her scholarly work focuses on cross-border litigation, judicial cooperation in civil matters, and the harmonisation of procedural law within the European Union. She is the author of numerous publications on European civil procedural law, including The European Account Preservation Order: A Commentary on Regulation (EU) No 655/2014 (edited by D’Alessandro and Gascón Inchausti) and the Handbook on Cross-Border Litigation (Wolter Kluwer, 2024).

Professor D’Alessandro has coordinated and served as unit director in several EU-funded projects on judicial training in civil judicial cooperation – among them EJNita 2.0 and EJNita 3.0 – developed in partnership with the Italian Ministry of Justice and the “Scuola Superiore della Magistratura” (Italian Judicial Training School). These initiatives have significantly contributed to strengthening judicial cooperation and have enhanced her expertise in the practical aspects of transnational judicial collaboration and the professional development of judges and legal practitioners across Europe.

She currently serves as Executive General Secretary of the International Association of Procedural Law (IAPL), where she actively promotes international academic collaboration and fosters dialogue on procedural law worldwide.
