Cristobal Lander is the Deputy Data Protection Officer of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), in Alicante. Working at EUIPO since 2009, his main duties have been mainly acting as the Coordinator of the ISO 27001 and the AICPA SOC 2 Type 2 Certifications of EUIPO, being one of the main actors responsible for the definition of the information security policies and practices of the Institution.

This “compliance mindset” allowed him to join the data protection team since 2017, initially part time to assist in technical and security issues, until joining full time as the Deputy DPO since 2021, lending his expertise in information security to the data protection and privacy practices of the Institution.

Being very passionate about data protection and information security, Cristobal holds a degree on Computer Science Engineering, and is also a certified ISO 27001 Lead Auditor and certified Data Protection Officer.
