Bernhard Ebbinghaus

Bernhard Ebbinghaus is Professor of Sociology, Chair of Macrosociology, University of Mannheim. During five years at University of Oxford from 2017 until 2021, he had been Professor of Social Policy, Head of the Department of Social Policy and Intervention (DSPI), and Senior Research Fellow of Green Templeton College. He has been previously Director of the Mannheim Center for European Social Research (MZES). Professor Ebbinghaus was member of the European Commission’s High-Level Group on the future of social protection and of the welfare state in the EU, which presented its report in February 2023. His major research fields are comparative analyses of welfare states, labour relations, and labour markets in Europe and other OECD countries.
