Alexander Baumgärtel

Dr Alexander Baumgärtel is one of the European Parliament’s senior medical officers and head of unit of the EP’s Luxembourg medical service. Alexander is a specialist in general practice and holds postgraduate qualifications in occupational health and emergency medicine. He trained as a doctor in the UK, France and Ireland before working as a general practitioner in Germany. He joined the medical service of the EP in 2009.

Alexander has a special interest in mental health and wellbeing in a parliamentary context.
