Too long, students have been set to consume technology. They consume by using technology that others have produced for them. Nothing wrong with that, but we can’t stop here. The school’s mandate is to create “good citizens” – to lead them to participate, contribute and develop society and working life. The school system must create manufacturers of new technology and new solutions to ever-changing problems. To facilitate this the teachers needs a new toolbox to adapt and utilize the capabilities of new technology. This toolbox has Ulstein municipality given the name ÒUlstein school of technologyÓ. 

The plan for programming is revised annually, and linked firmly to competence goals on the individual class steps. The work on technology in the school. 

The model for further education of all teaches i Ulstein will also be continued in a new two-year period from autumn 2019, where all teachers will take new 10 credits over two semesters. After this a new plan will be laid for the coming years, following the same methodology. The purpose is to ensure that all teachers are able to give relevant teaching to all students using technological aids in the classroom. 

ÒUlstein School of technologyÓ has a sound political anchoring, with resolutions and financial allocations by the The Body of Aldermen and municipal council. The project has also received considerable economical support for development from M¿re og Romsdal County Council.

One important principle for the technology initiative taken in Ulstein, is that all pupils should have equal preconditions for learning, therefore all schools, teachers and pupils are included in the effort. An engaged and inspiring principal is the key. This is crucial for whether the employees manage to keep pace with the development. There are established learning networks that share experiences across all the schools. 

Ulstein municipality cooperates with six other municipalities in the region. This collaboration is called Sjustjerna. Sjustjerna is comprised of Volda, Hareid, ¯rsta, Vanylven, Sande, Her¿y and Ulstein municipality. Ulstein municipality has paved the way in regards to using technology in the classroom. Now we see that the other municipalities and following our lead. This creates the basis for a good collaboration in the region where we share knowledge and exchange experiences. 

The close cooperation with Volda University College and L¾r Kidsa Koding has secured the "Ulstein model" good attention and spread throughout the country. Further education modules that are developed for the project are open to anyone who wishes to apply.

Project managers and teachers from the ulstein schools, as well as pedagogical staff and researchers at the Volda University College have participated and taught several events and co-labs organized by LKK, as well as presenting the project on several teacher conferences.
