The video series Smartphone ABC consists of 56 short learning videos that provide seniors and digital beginners with background information about the basic functions of smartphones. It also provides practical step-by-step instructions for individual applications in simple language. Great emphasis was placed on topics that are of increased relevance to the target group due to the current situation regarding Covid-19 and related restrictions (e.g. lack of personal contacts, no face-to-face training and retail closure). A team of 10 people produced all the videos, which are divided into 10 thematically independent chapters and for the implementation, the partners had a total budget of € 46 860. All learning videos that were planned last year were published on time and have since been available to interested parties free of charge on www.digitalelebenswelten.at. A press conference was held to present the digitisation initiative in all its facets. The goals are to enhance digital skills, ensure safe use of smartphones, and close the digital gap between younger and older people. The Smartphone ABC can be applied to all administrative levels and units. For their implementation, it is particularly important to establish a direct reference to the tools and application examples used in the respective administrative unit.
