Context
The Brussels region faces a challenge: retaining public service expertise. A significant number of civil servants leave for the private sector, highlighting the need for improved training and development opportunities. In response, talent.brussels, the regional HR expert, developed ‘MyTalent’, a digital HR tool including the ‘MyTalent Learning Platform’. This project aligns with the ‘Go4Brussels 2030’ strategy, aiming to strengthen the civil service’s attractiveness and ensure training, particularly in the digital realm.
Objectives
The MyTalent Learning Platform aims to improve the Brussels public service through strategic training. It increases accessibility for all public organisations, empowers individuals with personalised learning paths and offers a comprehensive library of materials to equip civil servants with the necessary skills to serve citizens effectively. The platform also addresses employee retention by making the civil service a more attractive career option through continuous learning and development, ultimately strengthening the public service as a whole.
Implementation
Developed using Cornerstone software, the MyTalent Learning Platform offers features for both users and managers. Users can personalise training courses, access learning materials and collaborate with colleagues. Managers can create and manage training objects, monitor progress and allocate training to employees. Additionally, the platform integrates with existing systems, centralising employee data and streamlining administrative processes.
The platform’s development faced initial challenges. Previously, training was provided inconsistently across various organisations. The MyTalent Learning Platform ensures consistent training delivery across all partners, regardless of size or resources. The platform also addresses feedback through regular meetings with training managers, allowing for experience sharing, problem-solving and feature improvements.
With nearly 2000 users currently, the MyTalent Learning Platform proves to be a valuable HR tool. Offering anytime, anywhere access to training, the platform empowers civil servants to continuously develop their skills and better serve the citizens of Brussels.
