Professional experience

Katlijn has more than 15 years of experience working on gender and diversity issues. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychotherapy, a postgraduate one in culture and communication from the University of Brussels, and a master’s degree in sociology from the University of Leuven.

The European Commission, the European Council, and the European Parliament, and the Belgian Federal and Walloon Government, have all accredited her as an equal opportunities, gender mainstreaming, and diversity trainer and consultant.

Since 2008, Katlijn has been working as a senior consultant on gender and diversity issues for the consultancy firm Genderatwork, where she also deals with management issues and HR realities.

In the last couple of years, she has broadened her gamut of topics to include the New World of Work (work-life balance, flexible working environments, etc.), team-building, building resilience on a personal and a team level, team management, adapting communication for specific audiences, and organisational development.

Over the course of her career, Katlijn has also occasionally worked for the United Nations and FAO.
