Amsterdam Smart City is the innovation platform of the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area, which is constantly challenging businesses, residents, the municipality and institutions to test innovative ideas and solutions for urban issues. In this one and a half day course, you will learn from experts who have worked and are currently involved in the smart mobility projects behind the city of Amsterdam. The course will include best practices and lessons learned from the Amsterdam Smart city. Key projects that demonstrate how to further progress, and an innovation platform for community engagement. The course is delivered through extensive insights with multiple examples and real life cases, group exercises, role-plays and simulation games.

Amsterdam Smart City Expert Session
Two presentations on the organizations main topics of interest. Topics covered:

  • Smart mobility
  • Smart energy




Lunch break




Demo session on: Play the City: Circular City Game
Participants will learn about working circular city development through Play the City method. Topics covered:

  • clean technologies
  • urban development principles
  • renewable sourcing
  • recycling of materials
  • biodiversity

Amsterdam Startup & Innovation Ecosystem
The B. Amsterdam Innovation Hub is the largest start-up and innovation ecosystem in Europe, covering in terms of its building space more than 40.000m2. It was commissioned by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy and the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security. At present, it is supported by the Dutch Enterprise Agency.

Participants will be able to obtain and to share insights on how government, start-ups, corporates, investors and incubators co-build innovation- and tech ecosystem on a global scale.

The fee includes documentation and refreshments. Lunches, a reception or dinner are included if mentioned in the programme. Accommodation and travel costs are at the expense of the participants or their administration.

EIPA offers a 10% discount to all civil servants working for one of EIPA’s supporting countries, and civil servants working for an EU institution, body or agency.

Who are the supporting countries?
Civil servants coming from the following EIPA supporting countries are entitled to get the reduced fee: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom.

For all other participants, the regular fee applies.

Lunches and the reception will be served at a restaurant in town. Special dietary requirements (e.g. vegetarian, diabetic) can be indicated once you receive the confirmation of the seminar.

Confirmation of registration will be forwarded to participants on receipt of the completed online registration form.

Prior payment is a condition for participation.

Cancellation policy
For administrative reasons you will be charged €150 for cancellations received within 15 days before the activity begins. There is no charge for qualified substitute participants.

EIPA reserves the right to cancel the activity up to 2 weeks before the starting date. In that case, registration fees received will be fully reimbursed. EIPA accepts no responsibility for any costs incurred (travel, accommodation, etc.).
