Nikolaos Mitrakis
Deputy Head of Unit, HR Data & Analytics at the European Commission
Nikolaos Mitrakis was appointed Deputy Head of unit in charge of HR Data & Analytics at the European Commission (EC) in May 2021. The unit’s mission is to support the HR function with actionable data insights and to offer a centre of excellence for a data-driven HR.
Since October 2016 and until March 2021, he was the Team Leader of the HR Data Lab team (now Pioneering) at the Directorate-General of Human Resources and Security in charge of the advanced analytics domain, working on topics such as modelling for workforce planning, data storytelling, interactive visualizations and text mining. Previously, he worked as a Data Analyst and IT Project Manager at the Directorate-General of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries and as a post-doctoral researcher at EC’s Joint Research Centre in Italy. Before joining EC, he was working as a researcher and visiting lecturer on topics such as Intelligent Control, Control Systems and Fuzzy Systems.
Nikolaos Mitrakis holds a Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a PhD in Computational Intelligence from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.
