Lydie Cabane is an Assistant Professor in Governance of Crises at the Institute for Security and Global Affairs (Leiden University). Ms. Cabane has an interdisciplinary background in sociology and political science. Her research aims to explain the wide diffusion of crisis management in a variety of domains worldwide, and to contribute to an analysis of states’ transformations, governance, regulation, and public policy. She has researched disaster management in South Africa, global health, and transboundary crisis management in the European Union.

Prior to joining Leiden University, she worked as a research fellow at the Centre for Risk Analysis and Regulation (London School of Economics and Political Science) on a Horizon 2020 project on transboundary crisis management in Europe (2015-2017). She holds a PhD from Sciences Po Paris (2012).
