Professional experience

Giovanna D’Inverno is a Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Mathematical Methods for Economics, Actuarial Science, and Finance at the Department of Economics and Management, University of Pisa (Italy). She also holds a position as a Research Associate at the Leuven Economics of Education Research center at KU Leuven (Belgium). She earned a joint PhD degree in 2018 from Scuola IMT Alti Studi Lucca (Italy) and KU Leuven (Belgium). Following her PhD, she pursued a postdoctoral position at KU Leuven in the Leuven Economics of Education Research center. Dr. D’Inverno has a flourishing academic career in the field of quantitative methods and public economics, with publications in top-ranked journals. Her research focuses on the development of quantitative methods and policy evaluation techniques to address policy-relevant issues, complementing efficiency with effectiveness analysis in an integrated economic framework. Her recurrent empirical applications mostly cover public economic issues and sustainability challenges, with particular attention to education and public economics. Dr. D’Inverno is actively involved in several national and international projects, including collaborations with consultancy agencies and policymakers.
