Ben Smeets

Ben Smeets has worked for the Belgian federal government since 1986 in various positions and in different departments. He played a role in several major change projects including the Copernicus reform, Optifed and also the creation of the Federal Public Service Policy and Support (FPS BOSA) in 2017. This FPS wants to be a factor of synergy and efficiency and supports the government and federal organizations in the area of policy support and implementation in fields such as human resources, budget, accounting, procurement and digitalization. Within the FPS BOSA, he has taken on various roles of acting Director-General for Digital Transformation, acting Director-General for Persopoint and acting Chairman of the Board. Since 1 June 2021, as Director-General of Recruitment and Selection, Ben has been responsible for the strategy and range of services and products in the area of “recruitment and development”. His focus is on collaboration, transformation, innovation and above all the human approach.
