Professional experience

As Senior Legal Advisor at Fusion for Energy (F4E) Angela Bardenhewer is responsible for corporate legal matters. She has a further independent function as Anti-Fraud & Ethics Officer, being in charge e.g. of relations with OLAF, ECA and of F4E’s Anti-Fraud Strategy. In her other capacity as Data Protection Officer, she is ensuring the implementation of the EU-DPR, in coordination with all EU institutions and bodies, as well as regarding the relations with ITER International Organsiation.

Governance matters, including relations with the European Commission and Member States were also in her area of responsibility. Before joining F4E in 2007, she worked for the European Commission: Since 1999, she advised three different Commissioners (from Ireland and Latvia) as member of their respective cabinets. In 1997 she joined the Commission’s Directorate General for Competition as policy advisor, after having served since 1995 as member of the SG Task Force for institutional questions (Intergovernmental Conference) negotiating the Amsterdam Treaty. She started her career 1992 in the European Commission as member of the Legal Service and represented the Commission in various cases before the European Court of Justice.

By training, Mrs. Bardenhewer is a German lawyer with the qualification to be a judge.
