In this workshop, we will explore the principles of collaborative governance and how it can be utilised for public sector innovation. By examining real-world examples and common challenges, you will learn strategies to avoid pitfalls such as power imbalances and stakeholder disengagement.

The workshop will offer practical tips for fostering strong collaborations between public, private, and non-profit sectors, ensuring inclusive decision-making processes and sustainable outcomes.

The workshop aims to explore the principles of collaborative governance, identifying common pitfalls and providing practical guidance on how to realise its full potential for public sector innovation.

Workshop Facilitator

Elke Loeffler

Dr. Elke Loeffler is Director of the non-profit organisation Governance International and Director of Research and Strategic Partnerships at the Open University. Her research on collaborative governance issues such as user and community co-production of public services and outcomes has been widely published internationally. Elke is also the co-editor (with Tony Bovaird) of the best-selling textbook Public Management and Governance (Routledge, fourth edition). She has served as a Scientific Rapporteur at several European Quality Conferences (with Geert Bouckaert and Christopher Pollitt) and has carried out consultancies and executive education for many public agencies in Europe as well as EIPA and the OECD (SIGMA). She received her Ph.D. at the University of Speyer in Germany.
