Digital technology holds tremendous potential for empowering citizens and making governments more efficient. This is not only a question of facilitating access to existing services, making government more inclusive and transparent, but of allowing the citizenry to make its needs known, creating new services, all while making the life of public employees easier.
From eHealth and eJustice to cutting costs and quickly responding to feedback, every part of public administration can benefit from going digital. No wonder the European Commission’s eGovernment Action Plan 2016-2020 states that “the digital transformation of government is a key element to the success of the Single Market”.
