EuroMed Market Programme

This was a regional programme for the Promotion of the Euro-Mediterranean Market Instruments and Mechanisms. This programme of the European Commission (EC) for industrial cooperation, aimed at all 37 Euro-Mediterranean Partners (27 EU Member States + 10 Mediterranean Partners), with a total duration of 7 years (May 2002 – May 2009), fell under component 2 of the Barcelona Declaration of November 1995, pursuing the establishment of a Free-Trade Area by the year 2010 in the Mediterranean Region. Within this regional programme, a series of 8 priority fields pertaining to the Single Market were identified:

  • Free Movement of Goods Customs
  • Taxation and Rules of Origin
  • Public Procurement
  • Financial Services
  • Intellectual Property Rights
  • Protection of Personal Data and e-Commerce
  • Auditing and Accounting
  • Competition Rules
