Alain Guggenbühl is Senior Lecturer and leading EIPA's Programme on European negotiations within the European Decision Making Unit. He has graduated in International Relations at the University of Louvain (B) and at the College of Europe (B), and holds certificates from the Kellog Graduate School of Management and the American Graduate University. He has previously worked for the delegation of the European Commission to the United Nations in New York and directed an EC law office in Brussels. He also currently lectures on Negotiation Theory and European Policies at the University of Mons (B). He is member of Team Europe, a pool of lecturers managed by the European Commission. He has published notably on relations between the EU and Eastern Europe, the simplification of European law, Openness and Transparency, EC Social legislation and the Presidency of the Council of the EU.

Alain Guggenbühl est maître de conférences à l'IEAP, où il dirige également le programme consacré aux négociations européennes au sein de l'unité Processus décisionnel européen. Diplômé en relations internationales de l'Université de Louvain (BE) et du Collège d'Europe (BE), il a également étudié à la Kellog Graduate School of Management et à l'American Graduate University. Il a travaillé pour la délégation de la Commission européenne auprès des Nations unies à New York et dirigé un cabinet spécialisé en droit européen à Bruxelles. Parallèlement aux fonctions qu'il exerce à l'Institut, il donne des cours sur la théorie de la négociation et les politiques européennes à l'Université de Mons (BE). Il est membre de Team Europe, réseau de conférenciers indépendants de la Commission européenne. Ses publications portent notamment sur les relations entre l'UE et l'Europe orientale, sur la simplification du droit européen, sur l'ouverture et la transparence, sur la législation sociale communautaire et sur la présidence du Conseil de l'UE.
